On May 24/15th, Bob Fanning organized an "Amazing Race Photo Challenge" at the Arboretum. We were given clues and challenged to take photos of the objects we found within a specified area of the Arboretum. Thanks Bob for a fun adventure!! Such a beautiful day to be out enjoying the trails and snapping photos. Sharing some photos taken along the way.

Miscellaneous Hikes / Photo Hike (Aug 20/14)

Our goal was to go hiking on Starkey Hill and practice low angle lighting and shadows. However because of an impending storm, we stayed at the Guelph covered bridge and the immediate park area. This resulted in some wonderful photography moments. Thank you to Bob Fanning for sharing his photography expertise with us.

The sky told it all.

Now this was a rain, but protected in the covered bridge!!

At the end we were treated to a lovely sunset

Thanks to Lynn and Norm for leading us on a 10 km hike in the Hockley Valley. We were surprised to see that there was still snow in some areas, but evidence of spring also. So nice to be hiking again after the long winter!!

Starting and ending at Scottsdale Farm, Mike led us on a 14 km hike along a few side loops of the Bruce Trail. We were surprised to see how much debris there was, caused by the winter many trees and branches on the trails.

Miscellaneous Hikes / Hiking in the Finger Lakes Region- New York State
« Last post by marilyncouture on June 06, 2013, 07:49:42 PM »
Thanks to Jane Shifflett who sparked our interest to explore some of the Finger Lakes Region of NY state after reading her article in the March newsletter of the GHTC.

Al and I just spent six days hiking in five state parks- Filmore Glen, Robert Treman, Taughannock Falls, Buttermilk Falls and Letchworth. All the parks were amazing and similar with sparkling lakes, beautiful gorges, breathtaking falls and wooded areas; but unique in their size and variety of cascades. It is hard to believe over thousands of years ago, gigantic glaciers and coursing streams carved this landscape.

We concluded our trip by hiking 15 km on the 500 mi  Finger Lakes Trail. I guess we will have to save the rest for another time.
