Carpool Option:
Meet at 8:00 AM for an 8:15 AM departure from the back parking lot, (by the Parkade),  Stone Road Mall, 435 Stone Rd. W., Guelph.  If you want to make your own way to the trailhead, you must first contact the hike leader to find out where to go. The hike will begin at 9:00.  Back in Guelph about 2:30 PM.

Hike Description:
Trailhead is the free parking lot south of Plains Rd. W., adjacent to Spring Gardens Road, across the Go Line from Laking Garden (RBG) - (see map at this link https://maps.app.goo.gl/BKnA8okqqV9SfJpe6)

Trail end is the parking lot at the end of Old Guelph Rd., Dundas, where it dead ends at Hwy. 6, (see map at this link https://maps.app.goo.gl/Ar9xRup4kpV1rZR2A )

The hike will begin at 9:00. We'll hike the main Bruce Trail, side trails and community trails, most of which follow Grindstone Creek.  We'll visit Smokey Hollow Falls, aka Great Falls in Waterdown, at about mid-hike.  Lunch by the Falls. Typical Bruce Trail terrain of rocks, rocky outcrops and roots, as well as easier dirt paths to follow. A few steep hills. A good level of fitness is required.

Length: 18 km. Pace: moderate. Terrain: 2. Hiking time: 4 -5 hours.

I led this hike on August 31, 2024 which was then titled Looking for Joe Pye.

Registration closes August 30, 2025.

What to Bring:
Bring at least 2 L. of water, snacks, lunch, sunscreen, bug repellant  health card, personal first aid kit, and a camera to capture Joe Pye. No dogs please.  Hiking boots and a good level of fitness required.  Hiking poles helpful but optional.
