Speed River Trail Section 1

Wednesday June 4, 2025,

Level 2, Moderate pace 7 kms,

Time: approximately 1.5 to 2 hours. 

Depart 9:30 am from the small parking lot near the old Humane Society.  To reach the parking area, turn into the first entrance (Truck Entrance) west of the Hanlon Parkway (hwy 6), on the south side of Wellington Road.  To carpool because of limited parking, meet at the parking area behind Goodness Me (in the plaza at the corner of Wellington and Gordon) at 9:15 am. 

The trail skirts the Speed River where we will see water-loving birds and passes through a dense cedar forest.  It forms a loop with the John Wood side trails 1 and 2. 

Bring insect repellent; poles will be useful on the bridges.  

Let the hike leader know if you are going directly to the trailhead.
