Wed morning hike - Snyders Flats

Note earlier start: 8:30 am - 11:30.

Where:  Meet at 8:30 in parking lot in front of Galaxy Theatre, 485 Woodlawn Rd. West to carpool to trailhead.  Please inform hike leader if you plan to go straight to trailhead and be there by 9 am.  Parking at hike site is at end of Snyders Flats Rd.

This ecologically varied hike will take us around deep pools and wetlands, along the Grand River, through grassy meadows full of wildflowers and into cool woodlands.  It is a habitat for many songbirds -- in fact one of the reasons for starting earlier is to catch the morning birdsong.  Keep an eye out for waterfowl, painted turtles and the occasional leaping fish.  There are many nesting boxes for swallows as well as an active osprey nest.  Trails are flat, mostly dry and unobstructed.  In meadows we will be walking through tall grass so socks over pantlegs to keep ticks out.  

Easy pace, roughly 2 hours.  Bug spray, sunblock, poles your choice.
