Speed River & John Woods Trails Thursday Fast Hike

Trailhead: HWY 124 (Wellington Rd) across from Imperial Road traffic lights
Parking:Meet at the Tim Hortons Plaza Parking lot at 9:20 am (for 9:30 am hike start)
at the corner of Wellington Rd and Imperial road, parking along Wellington Rd. side.
Hiking time: 9:30 am to approx.11:30 am (including brief water and viewing breaks)
Pace/Level: sustained brisk 5-5.5 km/hr (or as snow depth allows)
Level 2 (due to sustained brisk pace and few short water breaks)
Distance: 9 km loop between old Humane Society location to Niska Road
Terrain: Uneven snow covered terrain, possibly icy sections
Required: Sturdy hiking shoes, icers/cleats, water, health card/ID, dress for the weather, small personal first aid kit
No Dogs please.
Optional: Sunscreen, hiking poles, snacks
Description: We will hike along the Imperial Rd side trail to join the Speed River Trail. We will check out the lookout trails with views of the Speed River and Crane Park across the river. We will continue on through the forest to Niska Rd and return using the John Woods side trails berfore doubling back on the Speed River and Imperial Rd. Trails.
