Length:Approximately 8 km., moderate-brisk pace depending on trail conditions
Difficulty:This is a Level 2-2+ trail due to uneven surfaces with tree roots, leaf coverage and several rocky areas. The route may be muddy & slippery due to weather conditions. The rocky terrain is challenging and sturdy hiking boots or shoes and confidence navigating this landscape is essential.
This is an interesting route which follows the main Bruce Trail, as well as the Vanderleck, 17 Sideroad Trail, Cliff Hatch (formerly Speyside North) and Speyside South Side Trails. The trail passes through beautiful forests and swamps and crosses a few small bridges. Take a deep breath and enjoy the physical & mental health benefits of hiking and Nature time (“Vitamin N”)!
Recommended: Hiking poles, waterproof hiking boots, water, snacks, sunscreen, insect repellent, health card/identification, wear long pants, personal first aid kit. Dress for the weather, bring rain gear (just in case). No dogs please.
Carpool Option: Meet at 8:45 am for an 8:55 am departure from the Rockmosa Community Hall, 110 Rockmosa Dr., Rockwood (park on south side of tennis courts)
