Trek & Tell - Homeless Encampments on the Trail

This month’s Trek’n Tell features a speaker whose experiences connect closely with what many of us encounter on the trails in and around Guelph—homeless encampments.

Danny, a recently retired pharmacist in Guelph, will share his firsthand experiences supporting individuals living in these conditions. Throughout his career, he has been deeply committed to outreach and advocacy, with a continued focus on addiction and mental health.

Over the past five years, Danny has partnered with the Guelph Community Health Centre and contributed to the Safer Supply Program, working directly with vulnerable populations in our community.

His talk offers a thoughtful and compassionate look at the circumstances and complexities faced by people who choose—or are forced—to live this way. It invites us to better understand perspectives that may challenge our own, and to approach these realities with greater awareness and empathy.
