Marden Park and Trail Way Hike
When: Wednesday, Sept 2
(This is the Wednesday morning hike usually lead by Tuula)
Time: 9 am to approx. 10:30 (Check in at 8:45 am for a 9 am start)
Location: Marden Park off Marden Road, 7376 Wellington County Rd 30, Guelph, ON N1H 6J2
Description: We will leave from Marden Park and travel this mostly flat out and back hike. We start along Marden Creek through cedar forests before turning towards several naturalized gravel pits that have become popular ponds. Then we willl travel a section of the Guelph-Elora railway remains, a relatively unmaintained but pleasant walk before returning along the same trail. This a great hike to view the beginning of the fall splendors. There are colourful wild flowers, berries, apple trees and wild grapes along the trail.
Level and Hazards: 2 due to uneven/rocky terrain, muddy sections, roots, poison ivy
Length: approx. 5km
Pace: Moderate speed 3-4 km/hr
Required: Hiking footwear, dress for the weather, ID
Recommended: water, snack, hiking poles, bug spray, sunscreen
No dogs please
